After the Sea Dance festival rejected Kalush Orchestra’s ultimatum, which demanded the cancellation of the performance of one of the biggest stars in electronic music, Nina Kraviz, who comes from Russia, this Ukrainian band will not perform at the festival.
As a reminder, Kalush Orchestra invited their fans on Instagram to support what they called a “cleansing of the scene” and asked the Sea Dance Festival to cancel Nina Kraviz’s performance. The Sea Dance Festival then issued an official statement and sent a response to the management of Kalush Orchestra, rejecting this request and explicitly stating that the festival finds discrimination against any person and artist due to their nationality, race, or religion completely unacceptable.
In a press release, Sea Dance Festival condemned the war in Ukraine, at the same time emphasizing that cancelling a show just because an artist comes from a particular country is not the way to achieve peace, but rather the opposite – the way to further divisions, escalate hatred, and deepen conflicts.
